We support Health At Every Size.
If you're not familiar with HAES, you can find out more here. In the context of fitness, nutrition coaching, and personal training with BalancePoint Fitness, we affirm that everyone can benefit from exercise and improved nutrition even if weight loss is not a goal of theirs, and even if they exist in a larger body. We also affirm that existing in a larger body does not reduce any person's value, and that outward appearance does not indicate health status or fitness level. Improved mobility, pain reduction, mood management, better mental health, independence while aging, better quality of life, and a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment can all result from eating well and exercising appropriately and regularly, regardless of what someone looks like or what the number on the scale says. You don't have to be thin or pursuing thinness to be capable of or to benefit from physical activity or better quality foods.

Many people choose to pursue weight loss for a variety of reasons, which can include wanting to reduce some medical risks, reduce conditions like weight-related joint pain or sleep apnea, feel better about their appearance, etc. We can definitely help you if this is a goal of yours. Many others have decided that weight loss is not a priority for them right now, or perhaps ever, and that is a valid decision that each person should make based on their own circumstances and what they value. Either way, BalancePoint respects everyone's individual decisions regarding their body and their priorities, and will meet each client where they are, listening and valuing their goals and assisting them without judgement or trying to shoehorn them into goals that don't align with what they are truly trying to achieve.
